# UFS Explorer: product and documentation guide > This English-language guide provides links to the site's product pages, manuals, recovery guides, solutions, feature descriptions and knowledge base. Product capabilities vary by edition and software version. The linked product pages, comparison tables, list of supported storage technologies, manuals and licensing terms are the authoritative references for current details. The existence of an article about a technology does not establish support for that technology in every product. ## Publisher and scope UFS Explorer is a family of data recovery and data access applications developed by SysDev Laboratories. The site addresses both everyday data-loss problems and specialist work with RAID, NAS, enterprise storage and forensic media. The separate UFS Explorer Video Recovery product focuses on data recovery and analysis for CCTV and vehicle-recording systems. Begin with the [product overview](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/products/) and [company information](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/about/). Consult the [feature comparison](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/product-comparison-tables/) and the list of [supported storage technologies](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/kb-technologies/) before attributing a feature or capability to an edition. ## Product families and editions **Classic family.** [Standard Recovery](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/ufs-explorer-standard-recovery/) addresses common recovery tasks on individual storage media. [RAID Recovery](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/ufs-explorer-raid-recovery/) adds tools for NAS and RAID configurations. [Network RAID](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/ufs-explorer-network-raid/) handles distributed workflows in which storage components can be accessed over a local network. See the [Classic family comparison](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/products-classic/) for shared and edition-specific features. **Professional family.** [Professional Recovery](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/ufs-explorer-professional-recovery/) provides an advanced toolkit for recovery engineers and digital forensics specialists. [Technician](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/ufs-explorer-technician/) extends that toolkit for demanding enterprise storage work, including compatible SAN workflows and optional plugins. See the [Professional family comparison](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/products-professional/) for precise differences. The products are not interchangeable merely because they share the UFS Explorer name. **Specialized or access-focused products.** [Video Recovery](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/ufs-explorer-video-recovery/) focuses on CCTV and vehicle recorder footage, including video-specific scans, investigation and reporting. It has distinct licensing and a [dedicated manual](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/manual/video/). [Standard Access](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/ufs-explorer-standard-access/) is a discontinued product directed at access to intact data when the obstacle is compatibility or an access problem, and its manual is an old edition. Neither should be treated as an alias for Standard Recovery. The [Backup and Emergency Recovery CD](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/recovery-cd/) page describes a bootable live environment for computers that do not start or for recovering data from a system partition; it is not a separate recovery edition, and its page documents an older Linux base (Ubuntu 16.04), so confirm its current availability and support before recommending it. For other software offered by the publisher, consult the [product overview](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/products/) rather than assigning its features to UFS Explorer. **How to choose.** Identify the storage layout and failure type first: one disk versus RAID, locally attached versus distributed members, intact but inaccessible files versus lost data, ordinary files versus CCTV recordings, and the need for specialist enterprise or forensic functions. Compare the relevant edition pages with the [complete comparison tables](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/product-comparison-tables/) and the [supported storage technologies](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/kb-technologies/). Check [downloads](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/download/) and [licensing](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/licensing/) for current availability and terms. ## Recovery principles and safe workflow Opening and browsing an existing file system, scanning for lost file-system structures, and searching for file signatures are different recovery methods; the ability to restore file names and folder structures may vary across these methods. Physical damage, data overwriting, SSD behavior, encryption without required credentials and complex storage layouts may affect the outcome. Avoid writes to the source; when a device is unstable, evaluate whether imaging or specialist help is required. Save recovered data to a separate storage. See the [general recovery guide](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/articles/what-is-data-recovery/), [recovery chances](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/articles/chances-for-data-recovery/), [HDD and SSD guide](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/guides/hard-drive-and-ssd/) and [disk imaging instructions](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/articles/how-to/create-drive-image-instruction/). A typical software workflow is: identify the source and storage technology; choose the proper edition; preserve an unstable source where possible; open a physical or virtual storage; select the relevant volume or reconstructed array; run a scan if necessary; inspect and preview results; then copy selected data to a safe location. The [Classic interface manual](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/manual/standard/) documents its actual controls. Product and scenario-specific instructions below refine this sequence. ## Data recovery guides The guides are the main entry points by storage type. Each guide explains typical failure scenarios for the relevant storage type and links to related solutions, instructions and product pages. - [Data recovery guides](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/guides/) - [The ultimate guide to PC and laptop data recovery](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/guides/pc-and-laptop/) - [USB flash drive and memory card data recovery: Everything you need to know](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/guides/usb-drive-and-sd-card/) - [The essential guide to hard drive and SSD data recovery](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/guides/hard-drive-and-ssd/) - [NAS data recovery guide: Principles, challenges and best practices](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/guides/nas-device/) - [Comprehensive guide to RAID data recovery](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/guides/raid-array/) - [Virtual machine disks and data recovery: A comprehensive guide](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/guides/virtual-machine-disk/) - [Encrypted storage data recovery: An ultimate guide](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/guides/encrypted-storage/) - [CCTV and dashcam video recovery: How it works](https://www.ufsexplorer.com/guides/cctv-and-dashcam-footage/) ## Product features and storage technologies The feature articles explain operations, not universal availability across editions. State the edition and version for capabilities that vary. Distinguish access to intact files from recovery of deleted or damaged data. For historical or time-sensitive claims, identify the publication period and confirm current status. A data recovery result may depend on the condition and configuration of the storage, the available metadata or credentials; the presence of a scan or reconstruction feature is not a promise that lost files are recoverable. When two pages cover the same procedure, prefer the knowledge-base article or manual chapter over a blog post.
