UFS Explorer
Contents / Removable storages

UFS Explorer supports most removasble storage devices which could be recognized by Windows. After UFS Explorer is started, it never rescans automatically for hardware storages presense thus you have force UFS Explorer to re-scan any storages presense.

There are two device classes that are supported with UFS Explorer:
  • Devices with removable media: Floppy, CD, DVD;
  • Removable storages: Flash memory (cards, sticks), external drives (USB, Firewire), digital devices.
CD, DVD, Floppy
This devices class is relatively slow and media there has low read speed or has high access latency. Thus UFS Explorer by default never detects such media automatically.

If you want to open physical CD/DVD or Floppy in UFS Explorer, invoke 'Computrer' context menu and choose 'Rescan drives, including CD/DVD and Floppy'.

After scan is completed, UFS Explorer will detect any media in such devices and will open it in interface with automatic file systems detection.

Note:
  1. Devices have to be re-scanned (in method above) each time after removable media is changed to reflect the changes in UFS Explorer;
  2. The scan could take a while and depends of CD/DVD disk quality or device features;
  3. UFS Explorer could use low-level CD/DVD access thus it's possible to read some data that is not readable normally;
  4. After Floppy/CD/DVD opened in UFS Explorer, there are no more difference with other storages;
  5. Before re-scan operation is started, all opened disks are closed!
USB/Firewire removable storages
These storages are relatively fast thus UFS Explorer (on program start) always detects them automatically, making no difference with any other physical storages.

In case some storage is attached after software is started, you may re-scan removable storages presense with 'Rescan physical drives' option of 'Computer' context menu.

Note: Before re-scan operation is started, all opened disks are closed!
