UFS Explorer quick start and main controls
Download the latest software version, install it and run. You will see the software main window. It contains all major control to access all software functions.
It's strongly recommended to use the latest software versions.

Figure 1 shows program main controls example. Controls layout and existence will depend of program edition.
The purpose of main program buttons (see p.p.1-12 on Figure 1.):
- Root directory - returns to root directory of current opened partition. Activated after partition is opened;
- Parent directory - returns back to parent directory from its child directory. Activated after partition is opened;
- Open disk image file - opens disk image or virtual disk. Format is detected automatically. Always active;
- View: Large Icons - switches file view to large icons. Always active;
- View: Small Icons - switches file view to small icons list. Always active;
- View: List - switches file view to detailed list (default). Always active;
- View: Previous page - for large directories: switches to previous page to display (very large directories are divided to set of virtual pages to not overload file list). Activated in case of you are not in first page of large directory;
- View: Next page - for large directories: switches to next page to display. Activated for large directories;
- Copy selection - activates copying of selected objects. This tool is activated for valid objects to copy (files and directories);
- Build RAID - invokes RAID constructor. Present in UFS Explorer Professional Recovery only. Always active;
- Import RAID configuration - invokes dialog to open a RAID configuration file. Supported types are UFS Explorer RAID configuration and Runtime Software Virtual Image files. Present in UFS Explorer Professional Recovery only. Always active;
- Help topics - this program help. Always active.
'Business Network' edition has Connect Remote disk button instead of Build RAID and Import RAID configuration.
Other GUI components
Other GUI components include:
- path bar (13) - displays current path and could be used for navigation (directory names here are case-sensitive!);
- 'busy' indicator (14) - moves when active operation is in progress. Links to product web page.
- tree of disks/partitions (15) - contains list of all opened and detected disks with their partitions (supported partitions (16) and unsupported (17) are marked with different colors).
- right pane - includes file list from currently selected location. View depends of 'View style' and includes all files (19) and folders (18).
The software behavious after start is to detect automatically all physical disks (including USB storage devices), show the expanded tree at left panel with no current location.
