Disk images with UFS Explorer
To be sure your deleted files you going to recover will not be lost or in case you not sure your file system will be intact during data recovery process, it's strongly recommended to back up your file system or entire disk.
This operation may be done with UFS Explorer Standard/Professional Recovery and Business Network even in TRIAL mode (you do not have to purchase application to make this backup).
You may do file system or disk backup by choosing 'Backup...' option from disk or partition context menu. You may choose from two image file formats: UFS Explorer compressed image (.uci files) or RAW image file.
- RAW disk or partition image file takes as much disk space, as original object (if you back up 120Gb disk, image file will take 120Gb). This image file is supported by any data recovery software that supports disk image files.
- UFS Explorer compressed images will take at least two times less disk space (depends of actual data on disk and may be much less). This format is supported by UFS Explorer Standard/Professional Recovery and Business Network only!
UFS Explorer supports this disk format natively, with on-the-fly data recovery support and fast enough in-memory decompression (with no intermediate files creation).

After disk or partition (file system) backup image is created, you may save it for future recovery.
Data recovery from disk image file is the same, like for physical disks and is described at Data Access section.
